PURPOSE
- provide leadership to the sheep producers in the district.
- provide liaison between the district and the Agency.
- contribute to the development of the Ontario sheep industry.
TASKS
- organize and coordinate local producer functions (including producer education
events and the district annual meeting).
- express the needs of producers to the Agency.
- explain and promote the Agency to producers.
- promote the products of the sheep industry.
- cooperate with other local agricultural organizations.
- attend provincial meetings of district directors to share ideas with other districts,
and provide two-way communication with the Agency.
QUALIFICATIONS
- must be a registered sheep producer resident in the district.
- commitment to the objectives of the Agency.
- must have the ability to work enthusiastically with others, basic communications
skills and diplomacy.
TIME COMMITMENT
- elections are for a one year term.
- most districts hold about 8 meetings per year (usually evenings).
- one provincial meeting per year (usually an evening plus full day session).
